Bio

I was introduced to fishing by my dad on the lakes of Minnesota, Armed with a 14ft cane pole and coffee can full of worms, no panfish was safe.

At the age of 9, we moved to New Mexico and that’s were I was introduced to flyfishing. My grandfather was an avid flyfisher, and a great teacher.

After some teen distractions and a stint in the Navy, I returned to the Rio Grande, and that’s where the fly fishing bug really took hold.   I continued my adventures and guided in Alaska, but it was a fortuitous move to Pueblo, Colorado and being close to the Arkansas river that steered my destiny.

I have been very fortunate to work and guide for two premiere fly shops here in Colorado. I work with The Drift Fly Shop when I guide on Pueblo Reservoir and the Arkansas tailwater, and also for Arkanglers on the upper reaches of the Arkansas River.

I have also been blessed to meet, fish, learn and work with some amazing people from all over the world. My love for flyfishing goes well beyond rocky mountain Trout .  Hawaiian Bonefish, Triggerfish on Christmas Island, Redfish in Louisiana, as well as Trout, Bass, Carp, and Catfish on the mud flats here at home.

A saying of mine is that all species of fish should meet a well presented fly at least once in their lives!

I like and use Scott because their feel provides greater connection with the water and the fish.  Whether casting or in presenting the fly, this means more information coming through the rod to better execute the moves needed to catch more fish.  It also means that my clients can cast and catch fish sooner with a Scott in their hands.

Calling fishing a hobby is like calling brain surgery a job”. (Paul Schullery).”

"Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not the fish their after.” (Henry David Thoreau).
